The Fellowship Training Program
The Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) is a 501(c)(3) leadership development organization that operates in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, CA. Our mission is to build a diverse community of next-generation leaders to advance innovative clean energy solutions. To accomplish this, CELI identifies young professionals with diverse backgrounds and equips them with leadership skills and technical knowledge of the electricity sector.
We offer a highly selective 14-week Fellowship Training Program for working professionals that consists of two-hour seminar sessions on Wednesday evenings (6:30-8:30pm), taught by influential thought leaders and expert practitioners in the field, as well as a half-day leadership development training. Fellows are challenged to think critically about current energy policy and market structures, to identify existing barriers to clean energy deployment and innovation, and to formulate and propose new solutions.
The Fellowship Training Program provides a fundamental overview of key market and policy principles taught by top clean energy experts in the field on a variety of topics, including:
- Fundamentals of the electricity system, wholesale and retail electricity markets, and rate design;
- Energy technology innovation and integration;
- Clean energy project finance;
- Federal, state, and local policy levers;
- Innovative business models;
- Clean-energy specific leadership development training
Please see our curriculum overview for more details on topics and past instructors.
Beyond the 14-week training program, Fellows continue to play an active role in the CELI community by hosting discussions, writing blogs, attending ongoing leadership and professional development trainings, and participating in regular social and networking events.
Through our unique approach of providing education and fostering a dynamic community of experts and peers, CELI is bridging the gap between today’s leaders in clean energy and the leaders of tomorrow. Click here to read testimonials from our membership.
