The Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) is 501(c)3 professional development organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of clean energy leaders. Join us for our second annual Run for Clean Energy 5k, powered by Sol Systems, to support CELI, and a future run on clean energy.

Registration for the event is now closed. You can register on-site for $40, or donate online here on our event page.

THIS Sunday, June 26th @ 8:30 AM

Fletcher’s Cove
4940 Canal Rd, NW
Washington DC 20007

* The run begins at 8:30 AM. However, we strongly encourage everyone to arrive at 8:00 to pick-up race shirts and warm-up. Immediately following the run/walk, we invite you to stay for food, drinks, and prizes.

We’re looking forward to running with you this Sunday, June 26th for our second annual Run for Clean Energy 5k, powered by Sol Systems!

Here are a few more things you need know before the run:
When does the race start/end? Please plan to arrive at 8:00 AM. Opening remarks will begin promptly at 8:30 AM, featuring our generous sponsors: Sol Systems, Nextility, & Amalgamated Bank. The race will shortly follow, and we expect to wrap up no later than 10:00 AM. Following the run, we will announce winners of the prizes (Best Team Name; Highest Team Fundraiser; Fastest Male & Female Runner; CELI Fellow MVP; CELI Community MVP).

Can I choose to walk? Yes! There will be a 1-mile walk option for all participants. Pets/children in strollers are welcome to join for the walk, but are not recommended for the run.

How do I get my t-shirt? Shirts will be given to you with your running packets when registration opens at 8 AM. We will not be distributing t-shirts in advance or after the race, and you must attend to claim a t-shirt.

What if I signed up too late to guarantee a t-shirt? If you registered late, we could not guarantee a t-shirt. Unfortunately, we had to place the order in advance, and all order t-shirts have been claimed. However, if there are no-shows, we will offer remaining t-shirts at the registration table on a first-come, first serve basis immediately following the race.

Will there be restrooms onsite? Yes, Fletcher’s Cove has available restrooms.

What should you bring?

  • Reusable water bottle: There will be water, Gatorade, and other drinks. But, in an effort to minimize waste, we encourage everyone to bring your reusable bottles to stay cool.
  • A (modest) appetite: We’ll have fruit, granola bars and iced coffee donated by Whole Foods. There is also a concession stand that opens at 8.
  • A stopwatch if you want to time your speed. Although we will keep track of first male/female finishers for prizes, we will not record accurate individual scores. This is a fun run/walk and not an official 5k.

How are you getting there? We know. Fletcher’s Cove isn’t WMATA friendly. And it’s early on a Sunday morning. We recommend that teams and friends carpool using your own car, ride-share apps (Ubers or Lyft) or car-share options (Car2Go, ZipCar). Or coordinate a biker gang – the trail is really easy to get to from Georgetown. Up to you!

We love Fletcher’s Cove, and we think you will, too. It’s a grassy patch of park tucked between the Potomac River and C&O Canal. There are canoes, kayaks, bikes, and fishing poles for rent, hiking trails, and a concession stand – stay and make a day of it!

For all questions, email or call Jackie Weidman, / 908-400-9766 or Courtney Hinkle, / 850-591-1870.

Online Registration has ended, but you are welcome to register on site. The day-of registration cost is $40.
