2018 SF Bay Area Alum and Fervo Energy Co-Founder and CEO, Tim Latimer, and his team have recently announced breakthrough well test results at their full-scale commercial pilot, confirming the viability of Fervo’s carbon-free, next-generation geothermal technology. Tim and Fervo have since been featured in an in-depth report on geothermal power and the current attempts to frack for clean energy, courtesy of the New York Times. Congratulations Tim and team for these incredible accomplishments! We are so excited to see the technology's full potential!
2019 DC Alum Nikita Naik was the recipient of a Gold Medal for Exceptional Service, the EPA's highest honor award, as well as an Office of Atmospheric Protection (OAP) Outstanding Team Award, as part of the AIM Act Allocation Rulemaking Team, which was responsible for issuing allowances to address climate-damaging hydrofluorocarbons twice in 2022 and provided recommendations on more than 100 applications for allowances. Congratulations Nikita for these incredible recognitions!
2019 DC Alum Andrew Reighart was awarded a Bronze Medal for Commendable Service as part of the Clean Air Markets Program Data (CAMPD) Team, which successfully launched the CAMPD application, enhancing accessibility to emissions trading program data related to fossil fuel fired power plants. Andrew was also awarded an Office of Atmospheric Protection (OAP) Innovation Award for his examination of CAMD business processes with an eye for improving experiences for CAMD staff and customers. Congrats on the recognition for your awesome work, Andrew!
2015 DC Alum Cara Marcy was the recipient of an Office of Atmospheric Protection (OAP) Innovation Award as part of the §111 EGU GHG Standard-Setting Team, which developed a rigorous “best systems of emission reduction” standard for new and existing power plants in the forthcoming §111 EGU GHG rules. The innovative work from this team enables the EPA to propose considerably stronger and more defensible climate regulations for the power sector. Congratulations, Cara! Keep up the great work!
2022 NY Alum Jasmine Graham has been appointed to the New York City Sustainability Advisory Board, which will guide the city's long-term resiliency and sustainability goals and help shape its 2023 strategic plan on climate. 2022 NY Alum Supratim Das was recently named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 2023 List of rising stars powering a more sustainable future. Supratim is currently a Senior Associate at Electric Hydrogen, where he heads corporate development to enable clean, abundant hydrogen. Congratulations on your recognition, Supratim! Rozina’s sustainability-focused start-up, Rewilding Acres — an ecosystem restoration project that is transitioning commercial farmland into an organic, regenerative, and on-field educational site — has won the $5,000 annual BOOST award. BOOST (Building Opportunities for Original and Sustainable Thinking) serves as a platform for early-stage entrepreneurs with innovative products and services to provide sustainable change in the Midwest. In an effort to promote greater diversity, equity and inclusion in the clean energy ecosystem, the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) and Elemental Excelerator, today announced the launch of the EDICT (Empowering Diversity in Clean Tech) Summer Internship Program. The 10-week program provides paid, full-time, internship opportunities to Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and historically underrepresented students.
For CELI, building the energy systems that we envision is also about coming together to take collective action towards our values. In light of the Atlanta shootings on March 16th, we stand as an ally to Asian communities in our continued fight to dismantle white supremacy.
