2019 SF Leadership Team Openings

CELI is gearing up for an exciting 2019 and looking to fill a handful of positions on our SF Volunteer Leadership Team! Please find Position Descriptions below and feel free to reach out to Nate or Liz for any questions! CELIons are encouraged to apply below by January 11, 2019.


5k Chair

The 5k Chair is responsible for successful management and execution of all the logistics for the CELI’s 5k held in May 2019, in close coordination with, and support from, the SF Director. This person needs to be highly organized, has history of managing teams, and a tenacity to pull off one of CELI’s headline events.

Key Responsibilities Include the:  

  • Recruitment, selection and management of a CELI 5K Volunteer team that will help ensure a successful 5K event.

  • Identification, and selection of an event location, and securing all necessary event registration permits.

  • Development of a fundraising strategy to achieve the event’s goal of raising $20,000. The 5K Chair will have access to all past resources in the development including key contacts in the development of this strategy.

  • Development of marketing and promotional materials for the event (website language, brochures, company team competitions, individual team competitions, DC vs SF competition, and other creative strategies) that will be utilized in the marketing to participants, and companies to ensure a successful event. Marketing materials will be in developed in alignment with CELI’s larger marketing strategy, and with support from CELI’s Communication + Marketing Manager.


Alumni Manager

The Alumni Manager is responsible for successful management and execution of various CELI Alumni focused initiatives that will enhance ongoing alumni development, alumni to current Fellow engagement and professional network growth. This person will work in close coordination with, and receive ongoing support, from the SF Director, in the execution of all initiatives. This person needs to be highly organized, has history of managing teams, and a tenacity to pull off one of CELI’s headline events. The position should require less than 5 hours a week, plus attendance of mentorship events.

2019 Alumni Initiatives will include the following:

  • Bi-Monthly Mentorship Dinners with Senior Energy Leaders 

  • One Alumni-only Energy Deep Dive Event, based on Alumni feedback

  • Two Alumni-only leadership training events (public speaking, etc.)

  • Two Quarterly Community Webinar Calls

  • Monthly Matching of Alumni to Current Fellows

Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Recruitment, selection and management of a volunteer team, as desired, to help ensure the successful execution of the alumni initiatives.

  • Development of the initiative event structures and key organizational partnerships.

  • Identification and securing of appropriate event locations based on estimated attendance for events and mentorship dinners.

  • Recruitment of senior leader speaker(s) as appropriate of the events

  • Topic selection of webinar calls based on community discussion, and interest. Topics will be made in coordination with DC Leadership Team to ensure a diverse set of clean energy topics are covered over the course of the year.  

  • Ability to host, record, edit as needed and share with the broader CELI community Webinar calls.

  • Development of marketing and promotional materials for the event (website language, banners) that will be utilized in the marketing to participants, and companies to ensure a successful event.

  • Execution of hosting the events and mentorship dinners, in coordination with the SF Director, and if applicable volunteer team.

  • Creation and sharing of event feedback forms to ensure events can be improved upon in the future.

  • Actively seek/watch out for Energy Education Speaking Opportunities for Alumni.

  • Organization of additional events as capacity and participation permits.


Education Manager

The Education Manager is responsible for successful management and execution of various education events that will enhance alumni, current Fellow, and the broader SF Bay Area clean energy community engagement. This person will work in close coordination with, and receive ongoing support, from the SF Director, in the execution of all initiatives outlined below.

2019 Education will include at a minimum the following Initiatives:

Two Clean Energy 101 “Bootcamps” for Students/Early-Career Professionals

  • Clean Energy Fundamentals

  • Achieving Deep Decarbonization

One Clean Energy 201 “Workshop” for Students/Early-Career/Mid-Career Professionals

Multiple Education Social Events for Community Building


Key Responsibilities Include:  

  • Recruitment, selection and management of a volunteer team, as desired, that will help ensure the successful execution of the education initiatives.

  • Development of the bootcamps/workshops event structures and key organizational partnerships based on prior event success, survey feedback and historical knowledge.

  • Identification and securing of appropriate event locations based on estimated attendance.

  • Recruitment of  alumni speakers, and senior leader speakers as appropriate of the events

  • Development of marketing and promotional materials for the event (website language, banners) that will be utilized in the marketing to participants, and companies to ensure a successful event.

  • Execution of hosting the events, in coordination with the SF Director, and if applicable volunteer team.

  • Creation and sharing of event feedback forms to ensure events can be improved upon in the future.
