CELI emPOWER19

emPOWER 2019 will be a day of action with workshops, talks, and collaborations dedicated to driving transformative change in the energy sector.

The goal? Design and present regionalized plans for achieving our Green New Future.

Transitioning to a clean energy economy requires each of us to collaboratively work toward a shared vision that is fundamentally different from our world today. Building this vision calls for cross-sector strategies that shift us away from the carbon-polluting energy systems of the past, and toward sustainable solutions that will empower thriving communities in the future.

Power Trip: The Story of Energy - A Discussion with Dr. Michael Webber

In partnership with Stanford Professionals Energy, the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) is pleased to invite you to join us for a reception and book discussion with Dr. Michael E. Webber on his new book: Power Trip: The Story of Energy

6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

PG&E Pacific Energy Center, 851 Howard St, San Francisco, CA 94103

Power Trip: The Story of Energy

History makes one thing clear: energy can break societies just as easily as it makes them. But Power Trip offers wisdom for addressing today’s energy emergencies. Don’t look for cure-alls; energy is too complex a resource to allow for them. Solutions must be tailored to the needs and resources of individual societies. Scientific innovation needs public support. Long-term solutions are nonnegotiable. Our current energy crisis is real, but it is solvable. We have the power.

Dr. Michael E. Webber is based in Paris, France where he serves as the Chief Science and Technology Officer at ENGIE, a global energy & infrastructure services company. Webber is also the Josey Centennial Professor in Energy Resources, Author, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Texas at Austin where he trains the next generation of energy leaders through research and education at the convergence of engineering, policy, and commercialization.
