Power Trip: The Story of Energy

History makes one thing clear: energy can break societies just as easily as it makes them. But Power Trip offers wisdom for addressing today’s energy emergencies. Don’t look for cure-alls; energy is too complex a resource to allow for them. Solutions must be tailored to the needs and resources of individual societies. Scientific innovation needs public support. Long-term solutions are nonnegotiable. Our current energy crisis is real, but it is solvable. We have the power.

Dr. Michael E. Webber is based in Paris, France where he serves as the Chief Science and Technology Officer at ENGIE, a global energy & infrastructure services company. Webber is also the Josey Centennial Professor in Energy Resources, Author, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Texas at Austin where he trains the next generation of energy leaders through research and education at the convergence of engineering, policy, and commercialization.
